To peel specialty onions: plunge into boiling water for 1 to 2 minutes, then chill in ice water. Trim roots if necessary in order to squeeze out of skin.
Store all products in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area.
My husband bought a bag of the Gold Onions while away camping…. he peeled each one by hand (not the boiling method). Maybe the peeling instructions should be on the bag for people who aren’t familiar on how to prepare them.
I tried the gold pearls in a Coq au Vin recipe I was trying, and was pleased with the visual appeal as well as the little pop of sweetness amidst the other vegetables. Now that I have discovered the easier way to peel them, they will definitely be part of my recipe.
I agree that the peeling instructions should be on the bag, otherwise customers could be scared away.
